The Kindness Movement

Maybe it is just me, but the atmosphere around us feels to be one of imbalance, pain, fear, and anger. People seem to be acting out much more than before; sharing their impatience, saying hurtful things, making excuses for bad behavior to justify wrong doing. Frankly, it hurts my heart.

I know that we have faced many adversities in recent times, some natural and some man-made … , the ,the the in London, to name but a few. HOWEVER, now (more than ever) should be the time when we make an extra effort to be kinder and more loving to one another.

So, here is the charge...In July I wrote a blog entry about , please take a moment to read that entry. After doing so, make a commitment to do one kind thing a day (if you don't already) and share your commitment with someone, whether that is here or with a friend. By sharing it publicly you are not only making a statement, but you are creating accountability. Remember, the kind act does not have to be big or grandiose. It can be as simple and easy as smiling at a perfect stranger.

I'll be happy to start...

It is my commitment to say "hello" (with a smile) every day to someone I don't know.

This is not just an invitation to you, but to those you care about…ask them to join the Kindness Movement and together we can make a positive impact on the world, changing it for the better one person at a time.

What do you say? Will you join me?

Until next time, please be well...

Pam

Pam,

This is a wonderful idea and I try to practice kindness everyday at work. For the most part I get the kindness back from my co-workers. Can't say the same for the Bush bashers that I encounter on blog surfing and some comments I have received on my own blog. They act like President Bush is their personal whipping boy blaming everything on him.

A rule I have for myself is to commit one conscious act of kindness every day. It's amazing how many spontaneous acts of kindness naturally seem to follow.

It's great to read something positive out there. Thank you.

Schmutzie, that is fantastic and I commend you for your effort. You are so right, it is amazing how oftentimes spontaneous acts of kindness seem to appear. :) What was once a conscious effort, becomes an unconscious one.

Thank you so much for sharing and please keep up the great work!!

Be well...

And here I thought I was the only one who felt this way. It's nice to know I'm not alone, at least.

It's commendable for ordinary people taking little steps to make this world a better place.

Count me in! Let's find the good in our hearts and let it out! :D

trillionagesprout and Material Boy, thank you both so much for sharing.

trillionagesprout, you are certainly not alone...and I feel strongly that together we can all make a difference.

Material Boy, thank you..I am pleased to count you in. IMHO people who are willing to do what they can (no matter how big or small) to make this world a better place are EXTRAordinary. :)

Thank you both again!!

I've got a thought... Lets try to practice our extra kindness as early as possible in our day so that there's plenty of time to squeeze in another later on if the opportunity presents itself! :-)
