“Who Are We Not To Be Great?”

I believe it may have been who asked that powerful question. Regardless of who asked it, who are we not to be great?

We all deserve to step into our greatness. When we do we are able to celebrate our positives and acknowledge our negatives... only to learn from them. By not stepping into our greatness we give way to settling for less than we deserve. We allow our self-doubters to take over.

Keeping with the theme…

Who are we not to have a voice and share our truths without fear of judgment?

Everyone deserves to have a voice and share what is in their heart; by doing so we become active contributors, educators, and empowered people.

In not sharing we miss out on opportunities for growth and learning. We risk our integrity and make ourselves wrong for having a differing opinion or thought.

Who are we not to believe?

When we believe in ourselves and our abilities we are apt to take action and be active participants in our own lives. When we do not believe, we sit on the sidelines watching life and opportunities pass us by.

So let me ask you, who are YOU not to?

Until next time it is my wish that you be great, speak from your heart, and believe in YOU…

I have a friend who always reminds me that when I don't share my thoughts I'm ripping off the world because there may be others who could benefit from what I might say. Who am I to play small? I love the quote you refer to (originally by Marianne Williamson).

Here's to playing BIG!

Wow, what a great way to look at it, Jodee...ripping off the world. :) Thank you so much for sharing that thought. You and your friend are so right. Besides, do you have more to lose by sharing or more to gain? ;)

Here is to playing HUGE!!

Take care...

Very good post! This is wonderful question to ask of ourselves. We all have value to add!

Mark, thank you. You are so right...we do all have tremendous value to add. Sometimes it just takes the right people to support us, the right questions asked, and faith that we can step into our greatness.

Thank you so much for sharing.

Please be well!!

HI Pam

Great post. And just an fyi. That entire passage that Mandela read is actually Marianne Williamson's book, A Return To Love. Here's the entire quote:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our Light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves -- Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are we not to be?

You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people do not feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the Glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone.

And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others.
